All Flame King propane tanks are sold empty and ready to be filled with propane gas. This is standard practice for safety and shipping compliance. You can have your tank filled at any licensed propane dealer, U-Haul location, or refill station near you. Flame King's 1 lb refillable cylinders can also be refilled at home using the Flame King Propane Refill Adapter.

An OPD (Overfill Protection Device) valve is a required safety feature on all portable propane cylinders between 4 and 40 lbs sold in the United States. All Flame King tanks in this size range include an OPD valve as standard. Tanks are also x-ray and hydrostatic tested before leaving the factory.

Flame King's HOG series tanks are designed for both horizontal and vertical use. These are available in 20 lb, 30 lb, 40 lb, 60 lb, and 100 lb sizes and feature a dual-orientation design with built-in gauge, OPD or POL valve, EZ-HANDLE collar, and built-in wheels for easy transport. They are popular for fire tables, patio heaters, BBQs, RVs, and truck campers where a standard upright tank does not fit.

Propane tanks should always be stored outdoors in an upright position in a well-ventilated area, away from heat sources, open flames, and ignition points. Never store propane tanks inside a garage, basement, vehicle, or enclosed space. Keep the valve closed and capped when the tank is not in use. Per NFPA 58, portable cylinders should not be stored at temperatures above 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Always follow local fire codes when storing multiple cylinders.
