Trying to leave on a family reunion and bought one of these tanks to save room. I have it filled and get home and my entire van smells like propane. I tighten all the valves, still stinking. Finally I put it in a bucket of water to see if there is a leak. A fast stream of bubbles is coming right out of the weld. Not sure how that passed a quality control, but that's scary as all get out. Now what the heck do I do with a propane bottle that is actively leaking. I use propane on my oven at home and have used a half dozen different brands. First time using a flame king tank and will never do it again.
After 6 green 1lb bottles it was time to make an economical, reusable change. This 5lb model is a perfect fit for the Weber Q2200. It fits comfortably under the grill stand. The 5lb weight is easy haul around and refill. The refill cost of $5.28 is cheaper than a single green bottle. It should last as long as 5 green canisters. If that turns out to be true then it will pay for itself after the 2nd refill.It is such a good deal and size that I’m strongly considering it for our short term rental in Myrtle Beach that has a Weber Q1200. Makes sense for our renters, and ourselves as well, while not posing a big risk to our unit.Note that my objective was an economical alternative for an almost exclusively condo usage. For a truly portable usage the 5lb canister isn’t as portable as a single 1lb canister, but it beats a 11lb or 20lb tank hands down and certainly carrying 2 or more of the green tanks.
Perfect size my portable grill. Much better than the small disposable bottles. Only $3 to fill.
I have been wanting one of these smaller tanks for when I am camping out of my van. The larger tanks are just too big for a small space. This will be much more economical than purchasing those little green bottles. I would recommend this item.
