Flame King Electric BBQ Grill Cleaning Brush

The Flame King electric BBQ grill brush is really powerful and it really gets the grates clean. If you take a look at one of my pictures you will notice the left side of the grates are showing silver again and the right side is before I used the electric brush. I only cleaned two grill grates with the electric brush and I did a quick job because I was in a hurry. If I took my time I am sure I could have gotten them even better with more time. If you notice one of my pictures that I included all the grease collected in the closeup picture.

You don't even have to apply too much pressure when using the brush and it does all the heavy lifting for you. If I had to knock the brush for anything is you will get splatters from the speed of the bristles spinning so fast. Little splatters of grease flies off at you when you are using the electric brush. You better be wearing an apron to avoid flinging grease on your clothes. Another option you might try is turn the electric brush the other direction to fling grease in the other direction away from your body.

Overall this brush really gets your grates clean with little effort.

I like this grill brush but it takes a little getting use to because you don't have to (and you shouldn't really) press down as hard as with a manual brush.

My rechargeable grill brush has made quick work of a dirty job cleaning the grill. It fits in your hand nicely and only requires a light touch to get those grates clean. I did take off a star because if you push down too hard it will bog out and stop.

The most important problem for us lefties, is that the "safe lock" is located where a left-handed person might accidently click on it and the "ON/OFF switch" accidently while, say holding it to plug in the cable to charge it.... Like I did the first day!! Fortunately, I didn't scrape off any skin! (See the picture showing how close the "Safe lock" is to my forefinger on my left hand.)

Minus one STAR for not having a recessed power on/off switch besides the one that you push to have it spin that is called the “ON/OFF switch".

It did a good job cleaning the grill as you can see from the before and after pictures. I tried to push hard enough for it to stall, but it didn't stall for me. Of course, the underneath bar would still need hand cleaning since this will only work on the surface of the grill. Still, a great time saver as you can see the matter that collected on the splash guard.

The second problem came as a surprise. The "8mm open-ended spanner" was too small to fit around the flat part of the bar to hold it in place while you remove the brush using the "3mm Allen key wrench." I don't have a larger one to, say, try a 9mm spanner so I couldn't remove the brush to clean the splash guard and surrounding area correctly. If I ever get something that will fit in that small space, I will try to remove it and update this review. (I took a picture, but it's hard to see the way it wouldn't fit, but at least you see the narrow gap to work with so a pair of pliers or vice-grips wouldn't fit in the space.)

Minus one STAR for the spanner being too small or the flat part of the bar being too wide.

I was excited to try out this brush, as it could save some time on our regular BBQ outings. I had high hopes, but unfortunately, it left me feeling underwhelmed. The cordless, rechargeable design with stainless steel bristles seemed promising, but it did not live up to expectations.

Pros:

+ Cordless and rechargeable.

Cons:

- The brush works in "bursts," which makes the cleaning process less efficient.
- Leaves a mess on the brush itself after cleaning the grill or griddle.
- Not easy to use or clean after use.

In conclusion, go old style with the manual brush. At least when you need to replace those as they wear out, you won't feel as guilty.
